advance_weather

Controls whether weather changes automatically over time. When false, whatever weather is currently active will remain indefinitely until you manually change it with /weather.

Enable advance_weather

Weather changes naturally between clear, rain, and thunder based on Minecraft's random weather timer.

Java/gamerule advance_weather true
Bedrock/gamerule doweathercycle true

Bedrock uses doweathercycle (all-lowercase, no separators).

Disable advance_weather

Weather is frozen at its current state. Use /weather clear, /weather rain, or /weather thunder to set it manually.

Default: true. Restore with /gamerule advance_weather true

How do I lock the weather to clear?
Run /weather clear, then /gamerule advance_weather false. The weather will stay clear until you change it.
What happened to doWeatherCycle?
Renamed to advance_weather in Java snapshot 25w44a. Bedrock still uses /gamerule doweathercycle false.
Does advance_weather false prevent thunderstorms entirely?
Only if you freeze it on clear. You can still trigger storms manually with /weather thunder.
