Enable flight in survival mode. Run: /gamemode creative. There is no vanilla command that enables flight while staying in survival mode — flight is a game-mode-level permission, not a status effect. The practical options are: (1) switch to creative temporarily with /gamemode creative, (2) use Slow Falling to float down slowly, (3) use Elytra with firework rockets for gliding. Server mods like EssentialsX can grant per-player survival flight, but that requires installing a plugin. Works on Java 26.2 and Bedrock 26.32. Last verified June 2026.
