Jump Boost Effect Command

Copy the /effect command for Jump Boost in Minecraft Java 26.2 and Bedrock 26.32. Default, infinite-duration, amplifier variants, and the clear command are all below.

Infinite duration (Java)

Java/effect give @p minecraft:jump_boost infinite

The infinite keyword was added in Java 1.19.4. Use the legacy form below for older versions.

Max-duration / legacy (Java)

Java/effect give @p minecraft:jump_boost 1000000 0
Bedrock/effect @p jump_boost 9999 0

Jump Boost II (Amplifier 1)

Amplifier is 0-indexed in commands: amplifier 0 = Level I, amplifier 1 = Level II.

Java/effect give @p minecraft:jump_boost 1000000 1
Bedrock/effect @p jump_boost 9999 1

Clear Jump Boost

Java/effect clear @p minecraft:jump_boost
Bedrock/effect @p jump_boost 0

To clear all effects at once: /effect clear @p

What Jump Boost does in-game

Increases jump height and reduces fall damage. Jump Boost II lets you clear over 3 blocks in height. Extremely useful for traversal without flight.

Frequently asked questions

What does Jump Boost do in Minecraft?
Increases jump height and reduces fall damage. Jump Boost II lets you clear over 3 blocks in height. Extremely useful for traversal without flight.
How long does Jump Boost last with the infinite command?
On Java Edition, the 'infinite' keyword makes the effect last until you manually clear it with /effect clear. On Bedrock, the maximum you can specify is 1,000,000 ticks (about 13.8 hours).
Does the Jump Boost command work in Bedrock Edition?
Yes — use the Bedrock command shown above. Bedrock syntax omits the 'give' subcommand and 'minecraft:' namespace prefix, and does not support the 'infinite' keyword.
